Scale Bars

Scalebars
- Scalebars act like rulers. Their job is to help people measure distance on the map.

- Scale bars should not attract attention

- a skeletal style incorporating a very thin line (0.25 point) is usually better than the attention grabbing checkerboard styles.

- Avoid labeling all the divisions on the scalebar.

- Numbers placed on scalebars should be round and easy to work wtih.  Avoid using decimal values.
